Asin has four 100cr films under her belt and claims herself to be the founder of the 100cr club, but all of her co-stars were in the 40-plus age group. She now wants to shift gears and work with actors of her own generation. Asin's last four films Ghajini, Ready, Housefull 2, and the recent release Bol Bachchan, have crossed the Rs 100cr mark.
"I started the 100 crore club with Ghajini and gave membership to others. I am one of the oldest..one of the founding members of the club," Asin jokes with a HT correspondent. "Jokes apart, I don't think heroines should think about the numbers. The producers should." Sounds like a wise move. But the actress admits all those films had limited roles for her. She wants to change things in the future. "I am looking at working with the younger crop of actors. I am looking at scripts which have well-written roles for the female which have a scope for performance. The roles should be well fleshed out and worth talking about."
The 26-year-old has often asserted in her interviews that Bollywood is her focus for now. The South is her home, and she can always go back there to do films. However, she admits how differently the two industries operate.
"The time of functioning is very different. In the south, you start very early around 7 or 9 in the morning, so the pack up happens around evening. There is a lifestyle difference. Here, there are afterparties because of which the call time also gets pushed," she says. Asin is currently filming for action thriller Khiladi 786 with Akshay Kumar. Guess we can look forward to some new pairings in her upcoming films!
